Hush now and sleep,

slip gently into your quiet dream,

taking with you that moment of love

we shared.

And as you move closer

to that confusion of light, don’t fret

that love is left behind.

I have merely stepped back, a little,

to allow us both to grow.

In my own quiet way,

I can listen for the whisper of your breath,

taking care not to wake you,

knowing the distance between us

is only a thought away.

Hush now and sleep,

and when my eyes are closed,

don’t imagine me lost in a secluded place,

I shall reach out and touch your dream,

making it my own.
